An ongoing program sponsored by Winston Salem Writers, Press 53 and Only at Barnhill’s. The Writing Life takes place at the Community Arts Cafe in beautiful downtown Winston Salem, NC. We engage well-known authors in a conversation about the craft of writing and the vagaries of being a writer.
Each program begins with the featured author reading from their work. The author then sits down with Steve Mitchell for an ‘Actors Studio’ style conversation, followed by questions from the audience.
2012 was the first year for this program. Our fall schedule was:
September 2012: Robert Morgan (Gap Creek, Lions of the West)
October 2012: Liza Wieland (Quickening, Bombshell)
November 2012: Michael Parker (The Watery Part of the World, If You Want Me To Stay)
Our winter schedule was:
January 2013: Jill McCorkle (Crash Diet, Life After Life)
February 2013: John McNally (The Book of Ralph, Ghosts of Chicago)
March 2013: Holly Goddard Jones (Girl Trouble, The Next Time You See Me)
In the coming months, we’ll be building a Writing Life website and making podcasts of these conversations available.Projects, The Writing Life
